Gartner Research plays up Debian flaw

Information and technology research and advisory firm Gartner Research discusses a vulnerability in Debian Gnu/Linux that could expose personal information to hackers.

The thing that bothers me is this:

Gartner said the Debian organization was unresponsive to its attempts to contact it about the issue. "We believe this experience confirms our view that open-source process communications require significant improvements," Gartner said.

It's almost like the end of the world that Debian doesn't respond in a timely matter.  Yet Microsoft will go for years without releasing a patch for known vulnerabilities.

I suppose us Linux supporters reap what we sew.  With all our claims of Linux security, everyone will try that much harder to reveal it may not be the case.  This is unlike Microsoft which everyone knows is supposed to be full of security holes.
